Janet directs Everytown Law’s national Second Amendment practice, defending gun safety laws against constitutional challenges through amicus briefing, advice to government lawyers, and direct representation.

Janet directs Everytown Law’s national Second Amendment practice, defending gun safety laws against constitutional challenges through amicus briefing, advice to government lawyers, and direct representation. She also works with Everytown Law’s affirmative litigation team to craft and execute appellate strategy in state and federal courts across the country. 

Recent Second Amendment highlights include:

  • Arguing successfully in the Eastern District of Virginia in defense of Fairfax County’s restriction on firearms in parks and at certain public events, at both the preliminary injunction and summary judgment stages
  • Arguing successfully in the Tenth Circuit in defense of a New Mexico restriction on guns in parks and playgrounds in Albuquerque and Bernalillo County, winning a jurisdictional dismissal of plaintiffs’ appeal

Janet clerked for Judge Richard Posner at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and for Justice Sandra Day O’Connor at the U.S. Supreme Court.
